Acne Scarring refers to the permanent marks or indentations left on the skin after severe acne lesions heal. There are primarily two types of acne scarring:

Atrophic Scarring: This type involves depressions or pits in the skin, including icepick, boxcar, and rolling scars. Icepick scars are narrow and deep, while boxcar scars are broader with defined edges. Rolling scars have a wave-like appearance.

Hypertrophic or Keloid Scarring: These scars result from an overproduction of collagen during the healing process, leading to raised, thickened areas of skin.

Causes of acne scarring include severe inflammation from cystic acne, picking or squeezing pimples, and delayed or inadequate treatment of acne lesions.
